What is the GDPR?
GDPR is short for the regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data coming into effect on the 25th of May.
Will the GDPR apply to my organization?
The GDPR will apply to any organization, in the public, private and third sector, that holds or uses the personal data of natural persons. Since almost all organizations hold personal data about their employees, customers and suppliers, it is highly probable that GDPR will apply to your organization as well.
What happens if I am not compliant with the provisions of GDPR?
GDPR will grant the national data protection authorities (in Hungary the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information) a wide range of powers, including the ability to conduct compulsory audits and issue fines of up to €20,000,000, or if its higher, 4% of worldwide annual turnover.
